Justify My Vote

Not a good day if you don’t live in an evidenced-based world.

In what can only be termed as yet “another proud day for republicans”, Rush Limbaugh starts a war with Bill O’Reilly and Fox News.

Now, Tea Baggers and other lemmings are confused and don’t know who to follow.  They just can’t seem to figure out from where to get their talking points on marriage equality!  They need someone to tell them it’s ok to be a bigot, because how else will they feel good about themselves?!

“So how many of you who watch Fox are Bible thumpers? Do you think there are any Bible thumpers that watch Fox? Because last night you were sort of marginalized on ‘The Factor’ as not having a compelling argument and just being a bunch of Bible thumpers,” the conservative radio host [Rush Limbaugh] said on his program, according to a transcript.

Well, little lemmings, Rush and Bill are in a fight for ratings so you’re just going to have to think for yourself this time.  And don’t forget to be afraid of all the facts and empirical knowledge that has been around for years, but  you’ve somehow managed to avoid!

RNC Chair, Michael Steele, is a lot of things.  He’s a dichotomy, he’s a gaffe machine, and he’s practical.  At yesterday’s RNC Chair debate [an event that Grover Norquist inexplicably believes to be testimony to the "transparency" of the republican party], Mr. Steele consistently promoted the avenue of diversity and tolerance as the future of the republican party.  This concept, of course, was [quite transparently] lost on the republicans sitting in the room.  While Steele talked about reaching out to African-Americans, Hispanics, and others “who don’t vote for us anyway”, the other republicans talked about forcing their beliefs and religious views on America.  While Steele promoted inclusiveness, the other candidates and sponsors of the event, righteously, and with no sense of irony, espoused their belief in smaller government, except when they were promoting the idea that government should decide who you can love, how you should raise your government mandated children, and how the government can protect its corporate sponsors.

It was a cringe-inducing look into the priorities of the GOP.  They don’t care about fiscal responsibility, they don’t care about limited government involvement in the lives of everyday Americans, and not one mention of creating jobs.  What they [very transparently] care most about is social and ethnic purity, tax cuts for the wealthy, and the corpse of Ronald Reagan.

{September 28, 2010}   Rubio Feels the Heat in Florida

Today, Florida Senate Republican Tea Party Candidate moved to the center, saying that he is against the Conservative scheme of  privatizing Social Security.

The money quote:

After studying the issue and CBO reports on the fiscal impact of personal accounts, Marco concluded their time had come and gone because they actually take money out of the system and make it harder to make Social Security solvent.

If he has that much faith in the government, then it’s no wonder he doesn’t he believe women have a right to privacy and can make their own choices.
